According to the subtitle, this should be an intermediate book. In fact, it is a multilevel presentation of the twenty topics discussed, ranging from intermediate to advanced levels. The cross-level feature manifests itself in different ways. The issues are intermediate exam topics. Each is, however, amplified by background information required at higher levels. In compliance with the complexity of information, the vocabulary is also either slightly limited or wider. Formal or informal language is used depending on the style of the presentation. Verbs appear in their full forms in formal sections of the text, whereas in the informal parts their most common contractions are used. Grammar is tailored to the intermediate level. In general, when the detailed discussion of a topic is closer to the intermediate level, then its 'in a nutshell' version is more demanding - and vice versa.
